- Makemi is a blog devoted to the art of “making” and to share my love for fashion and crafts with likeminded people. Since moving back to Canada just last month after working and living in New York and London for more than ten years, I’ve been struck with an insatiable creative appetite to make things and with an opportunity to do so, I decided to document it all—the inspiration, the process, and the results. I am inspired by nature, asymmetrical silhouettes, androgynous designs, the lost and the forgotten (tailoring and crafting techniques), historical costumes, bold palettes, and theatrics. I appreciate modular designs which can be buttoned or arranged differently to transform the look or better yet, the function. I work with both new and recycled materials. Makemi is very much dedicated but not necessarily exclusive to the realm of fashion.
